The CAD Compass uses the full capabilities of the Internet to provide its membership with a dynamic and up-to-date resource on all issues pertaining to CAD Standards, especially regarding the evolution of the "Virtual Building" which uses the CAD database as the core for a central nervous system for a facility from its inception through the end of its life. The Pulse of the CAD Compass is the component of this site that disseminates information about the world of CAD and CAD Standards through a variety of means:
Every quarter The CAD Compass releases an issue dedicated to a topic on CAD standards. The Fall 2000 issue focuses on the current status of CAD standards for the Building Industry with an emphasis on efforts already underway towards the standardization of CAD. The Winter 2000 issue will focus on practical issues in the implementation of CAD standards in architectural and engineering design companies.
Compass Forums are moderated discussions that provide a dynamic environment for members to discuss issues raised in each article. Members will be identified in the discussions by their username or "handle." Involvement in these discussions is another way that Compass enables members of similar interests to network with each other.
The CAD Compass maintains an indexed and searchable archive of press releases from companies and organizations on issues pertaining to software interoperability as well as CAD standards initiatives, publications, solutions and services.
Compass has collected an extensive set of links to articles on other web sites regarding CAD standards. Members have the opportunity to rate the value of each article so that future members can choose the most informative articles from the link list. Compass maintains as well an indexed set of links to other CAD standards related sites on the Internet.
